The garage-working jumpsuit received a high-fashion makeover from top-shelf designers like Stella McCartney, Tibi, Gucci and Isabel Marant, all creating freeing one-piece wonders. A modern take on the retro flight suit gave many of the elongating jumpers a utilitarian twist with updated silhouettes—some boxy and boyish, others fitted and feminine.
Praise the gods and goddesses in their ombre-dipped robes and unbrushed hair. Haute hippy and tie-dye wares have returned to the cooler side of print, just ask Chloé and Dior. Acid wash denim and bleached, cut jeans are ripping into the vibe as well, especially bohemian-hobo makers Proenza Schouler and MSGM.
There’s no denying a new slinky short on the scene. From beach joggers to bold city clickers, women are rocking the longer, thigh-tight short. From Chanel, Fendi, Marc Jacob and Prada, all the big houses are getting tight with high-waisted, stretchy versions of the ‘I mean business, get out of my way’ bottom-huggers.
Hang ten on the point break with California girl-inspired styles that break the typical beach bum mold. Toss on a sassy-slouchy Jaws graphic tee by Calvin Klein, zip into a svelte neoprene wetsuit by Hermés and channel that inner surfer with Baja-worthy outfits from Michael Kors that somehow turn touristy into trendy.
Sometimes everything is all black and white, especially this season, with dizzying polka dotted prints from head-to-paw. Burberry, Celine and Carolina Herrera want in on the monochromatic circular formations ranging from petite dots to showy spheres.
BIRDS A FEATHER
Fly with your own wings—it’s time to soar and embrace that feminine frill you’ve been eager to let wild. And top designers like Noten, Valentino, Tom Ford and Loewe are lifting you off with thick, flowing necklines, plumage-trimmed handbags and feather-strapped mules.
